"Seh-kai is a math wizard. I don't know how he does it but he can make anyone understand math no matter what level they're on. I took 118 at USC, a prerequisite for my Econ class, and he understood how to do it better than the TAs for our class. At the beginning of the semester, I had no idea what was going on. I hadn't taken a math class in a year. Somehow he was able to get me up to speed with the rest of the class and I was prepared for each test I had throughout the semester and ended up doing even better in the class than I had in my High School math classes even though the math was harder for 118. I would go to him over my professor for help. If you don't understand math, go to Seh-kai. He will wave his *fancy mechanical pencil* wand and it will all make sense." — Kara W.
"This semester, I went to the math center every Tuesday for homework help and Seh-kai was always willing to answer questions, explain the steps and work through problems with me which was super super helpful. I also always attended any extra review sessions he held for 118 midterms or for the final. Seh-kai has helped me understand many concepts that used to frustrate me and because of his help and support I feel more confident in my math skills." — Cynthia A.
"[Seh-kai] is not helpful, rude, and always gives us a hard time on the homework." — W. D.
"Mostly saw him in group experiences and he was amazing. Always gave great problems and took time to explain concepts. It was evident that he cared about each and everyone of us." — Noah L.
"One of the nicest people I have ever met. He was always available to help whenever, into the late hours of night or at dawn. He helped in every setting imaginable, from just me to groups of 30 people. He created notes and huge worksheets for us to work on and explained concepts to the class extremely well." — Shivaan M.
"I saw Seh-kai in group settings, but he always gave me one-on-one help during theses sessions. Seh-kai is so incredibly caring and generous with all of us. Even when he hadn't slept or eaten in a week (or probably more) he always offered to stay and help until the last person felt good about the material and was ready to leave. He always stayed positive with us and knew we could do it, even when we didn't. Also, shoutout to 50 shades of math 118, he really didn't need to make us that but he did and it was amazing. He should be in charge of writing word problems for the entire math department. He used a lot of examples to explain hard concepts and broke everything down into smaller parts which made it easier to understand. Also, he was always willing to work with us until we understood the concepts by trying different approaches and explaining this in different ways. He always used really hard problems, which made the ones we originally thought were hard seem easier." — Emily B.
"Seh-kai went over and beyond the expectations. He really sets the bar for any tutor, mathematician, or professor. His drive to help his students, his capability in the mathematic sense, and his ability to adapt his teaching styles to better fit each and every student sets Seh-kai apart." — Arman B.
"He was always super accessible and offered tutoring sessions before the midterm and final, taking his own personal time to help students. He was also extremely helpful in his teaching methods and was able to explain things in ways I understood. He went above and beyond to help me and that's the only reason I passed math." — Hailey S.
"I saw Seh-kai in both one-on-one and group settings throughout the second half of the semester. I honestly wish that I would have met him sooner because he was an amazing help with my math studying! He was basically my professor away from class and was very patient when dealing with me or my peers. He literally wrote a 50 question practice test by himself, like who in the world does that??" — Rocky R.
"I was mostly was in group settings with Seh-kai. He is by far the best TA/Tutor at USC. He is extremely helpful and his ability to teach far surpasses that of any math professor at this school. This in no way is sarcastic, I really do owe a debt of gratitude to Seh-kai for his help studying for 118. He is a wealth of information and has a level of dedication to his students that exceeds any professor or TA at this school, even though he is not technically a TA. He is gracious, kind, and the amount of thought and imagination he puts into his problems and examples is outstanding. He really is the best USC has to offer and asks for nothing in return. USC, or any other school for that matter, would be extremely lucky to have Seh-kai in any capacity (whether it be a professor, TA, or Ph.D candidate). He is the best math tutor I have ever had and many, if not all, of the other students who were taught by him would agree. If math at USC was a Himalayan mountain, Seh-hai would be the only Sherpa that could get you to the top alive." — Andrea C.
"Seh-kai's lectures were fair. At least, that might be his opinion in his words. Teaching a small group of five might be some instructors' dream or enjoy and perhaps it was Seh-kai's. His mannerisms were not dull; it was apparent he was lecturing with an affinity towards mathematics. A distinct feature of his is an invitation to participate. While he finds the abstractions of his subject appealing he did not keep that to himself. Proof after proof he gave his best attempt to reinforce the relations the current topic had with the one that came before, and without carrying assumptions he often asked his class what that relation may be. He understood his pupils; he could tell when they were not capable of following on with his lectures and suggested that the key is to practice on one's own accord outside of the lecture. It is in his reasonable belief that one must learn the language of math and possess the ability to write theorems and propositions to understand his content. Regardless of this, however, there were times when it felt as though not enough substance was available to digest and develop an intuition for. Seh-kai had challenging problems sets for this reason. Nevertheless, he would offer help in the form of tutoring if one was struggling a fair amount. From personal experience, he had the patience and interest in helping to understand what was the best approach to a problem. In class, he would also review some problems if his students asked for it. These were important moments because the impending lecture could have been frustrating for both parties without the review. Given the live feedback Seh-kai seeks during his lectures, it is easy for him to realize when the practice for the prior lecture was completed or not. When he realized that the case was negative then he would review key concepts. Now, in consideration of the time allotted, the subjects that were taught therein, and the audience he addressed, it is difficult not to commend Seh-kai's tutelage. In a matter of six weeks, Seh-kai taught a group of inexperienced college freshmen the fundamentals of set theory, group theory, abstract algebra, Fourier analysis, real analysis, and mathematical logic, as well as the form of proof creation. While he may not have had a clear agenda with objectives, through it all he kept his collegiate style constant and care for his students' knowledge alive. On more trivial matters, his writing on the blackboard is legible, he is open to corrections, and speaks at an audible volume with lack of an obtrusive accent or voice. From experiences with former professors, Seh-kai has the foundations of a bright, curious, and inviting lecturer, and it was a pleasure to be a student of his." — L. H.
"Without a doubt, Sehkai knows his math. He answers every question professionally and ensures you understand the material. Always a friendly person to talk to. Ask him a question, and he will gladly help you. He doesn't just give you the answer; rather, he gives you hints on what to do or where to start." — K. J.
"Although the lectures were kind of hard for me to understand because it was my first time exposed to real analysis, the concepts were interesting. I guess they were cool. I felt that the example problems given after the theories and definitions were helpful to understand what they meant." — P. A.
